********Karen Carasik New Paintings at The Steinway Gallery featuring an exhibition of new paintings of Karen Carasik throughout the month of June. Carasik’s expressionistic abstracts have been widely exhibited and are in private and corporate collections nationally. “RENEWAL” is a new series based on her reflections of our resilience and determination to rebuild our lives post the Tsunami, Hurricanes and other obstacles that have dominated the media for the past few years. The Steinway Gallery is located in the Renaissance Center in Altamonte Springs. The entry to the Renaissance Center is on SR 436.An artist’s reception will be held June 8 from 6 pm until 8 pm and features the expressionistic Jazz of the Bernie Lee Quartet.Admission to the gallery and the reception is free. For more details, call 407-339-3771“Karen Carasik’s art mirrors her complex nature as an advocate. For her, I suspect, mission plays an integral role in both enterprises. As a leading advocate for creative freedom, she forges links between venues, artists, and media. As an artist, Karen joins the seemingly disparate qualities of expressive abandon and compositional organization.Quite simply = Karen Carasik enriches the regional and national art scene(s) by her presence.”----Richard D. Thursday, July 20 RE: An Evening w/Willie Nelson & Family The Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach (600 Auditorium Blvd) will once again be home to the stars as Willie Nelson & Family perform in concert Thursday, July 20, 2006. Reserved seating tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Peabody Auditorium box office, all Ticket Master locations, charge-by-phone at 407-839-3900 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices are $45 and $35. Doors open @ 6:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. show.
As a songwriter and a performer, Willie Nelson played a vital role in post-rock & roll country music. Although he didn’t become a star until the mid-‘70s, Nelson spent the ‘60s writing songs that became hits for stars like Ray Price (“Night Life”), Patsy Cline (“Crazy”), Faron Young (“Hello Walls”), and Billy Walker (“Funny How Time Slips Away”) as well as releasing a series of records on Liberty and RCA that earned him a small, but devoted, cult following. During the early ‘70s, Nelson aligned himself with Waylon Jennings and the burgeoning outlaw country movement, which made him into a star in 1975. Following the crossover success of that year’s The Red Headed Stranger and “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” Nelson was a genuine star, as recognizable in pop circles as he was to the country audience; in addition to recording, he also launched an acting career in the early ‘80s.
Even after becoming a star, Willie never played it safe musically. Instead, he borrowed from a wide variety of styles, including traditional pop, Western swing, jazz, traditional country, cowboy songs, honky tonk, rock & roll, folk, and the blues, creating a distinctive, elastic hybrid. Nelson remained at the top of the country charts until the mid-‘80s, when his lifestyle—which had always been close to the outlaw clichés his music flirted with—began to spiral out of control, culminating in an infamous battle with the IRS in the late ‘80s. During the ‘90s, he remained a vital icon in country music, having greatly influenced the new country, new traditionalist, and alternative country movements of the ‘80s and ‘90s as well as leaving behind a legacy of classic songs and recordings. The new millennium finds Nelson still active, touring and as vital as ever.

Enchanted April
Matthew Barber,
from the novel by Elizabeth von Arnim

When two frustrated London housewives decide to rent a villa in Italy for a holiday away from their bleak marriages, they recruit two very different English women to share the cost and the experience. There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four bloom again—rediscovering themselves in ways that they—and we—could never have anticipated

Jake’s Women
Neil Simon
Jake, a novelist who is more successful with fiction that with life, faces a marital crisis by daydreaming about the women in his life. The wildly comic and sometimes moving flashbacks played in his mind are interrupted by visitations from actual females. A revered first wife who was killed years earlier in an accident, his daughter remembered as a child but now a young woman, his boisterous and bossy sister, an opinionated analyst, his current wife who is leaving Jake for another man, and a prospective third wife. Another classic Neil Simon comedy.
Performances, Oct. 20,21,22,26,27,28,29 ~ Auditions Sep10 & 11

What’s Wrong With This Picture
Donald Margulies

Opening at the end of shiva, this is the story of grief-stricken dry-cleaner Mort, whose wife, Shirley, died the week before, leaving a house in the middle of a redecorating project. His loving family is telling him 'enough already, it's time to live your life.' Once Mort is left uncomfortably alone with his teenage son, Artie, the play begins to take its odd turns and the sudden return of Shirley explodes everything. The play continues to take every unexpected path as the three try to cope with the situation and with the rest of the family.

Performances, Dec. 1,2,3,7,8,9,10 ~ Auditions Oct. 22 & 23

Little Lies
By Joseph George Caruso
Freely adapted from and inspired by
Sir Arthur Wing Pinero’s famous comedy “The Magistrate”

Set in Edwardian England. The play follows the exploits of Aeneas Posket, Chief Magistrate of Mulberry Street Police court, as he sets forth upon an illicit nocturnal visit with his stepson Cis to the infamous Hotel des Princes, run by the outrageous Madame Blonde. Unknown to him his young wife Agatha also happens secretly, but for different reasons, to be dining there. The consequences for this incorruptible pillar of Victorian society turn out to be both embarrassing and hilarious.
